Strategic Capital Partners, LLC (SCP) announces the formation of a new fund, Strategic Partners Urban Fund, to invest in underserved urban communities in cities across the country. Former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson has been named Managing Director of the Fund.

 

“Historically, many urban neighborhoods have not seen the level of investment in real estate development that suburban areas have seen,” said Peterson. “These markets present important opportunities for commercial and residential real estate investment and for community revitalization. Our goal with the Strategic Partners Urban Fund is to invest in these communities and make a measurable, positive impact for the neighborhoods, the residents, and the environment.”

 

Added Gene Zink, Chairman of SCP, “Strategic Capital Partners believes in the benefits of ‘triple bottom line investing’ – to invest for a return on investment, to serve a positive community purpose, and do so in an environmentally conscious way. The formation of the Strategic Partners Urban Fund will allow us to do just that.”

 

The Fund is actively seeking investment opportunities nationwide.

 

Peterson served two terms as Mayor of Indianapolis, the nation’s 12th largest city, from 2000 to 2007. Before running for office, Peterson built, with his family, The Precedent Companies, a group of real estate development and financial services companies. Peterson is a founding member and Board Chair of The Mind Trust, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to dramatically improve public education for underserved students. In addition, he is a Board member of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, and has been appointed as a Distinguished Urban Fellow with Living Cities, a philanthropic, corporate and public sector partnership established to bring opportunities to urban neighborhoods and their residents.
